There's a lot of picturesque stuff in the area. A minor road runs west from
Koblenz along the Mosel. It was very hot, and we stopped in a village for a
cold drink and to paddle in the river. This castle / farm thing was on the top of the hill.
About halfway between Koblenz and the Ring lies Burg Eltz, this
jigsaw-box vision of a castle. It was still very hot, so we had another drink
at the castle :-)
Evidently people heading for the Ring find it hard to control themselves as
they near their goal, so there are quite a few of these "No Racing!" signs
out on the excellent biking roads.
Ooooh look, here's another one, with a different shocking graphic
illustrating the harm which might befall you.
We arrived in time to do two laps - here's an arty (i.e., crap)
picture of our ticket on the bonnet. This ticket opens the barrier which lets
you onto the track ...
Immediately we got home, we started planning our
proper visit for Oktober '98.
