Adamanda's organising Jetskiing! I need names for the following adventure ...
The Wet & Wild Jetski Centre is at Tattershall, on the A153 about 15 miles south of Cadwell, and we're going on Saturday 25th July, ie the day following Ixion@Cadwell.1998.
I've booked 2 skis: A Yamaha 701 Waveraider sit-down, and a Kawasaki 650 stand-up. The sit-down will take two people and can pull a banana or a double ring, which are great for kids and even better for grown-ups[1].
The centre also has jacuzzi / steam-room for those post-Cadwell aches.
[1] The rings are especially good for grown-ups because to avoid being thrown out (when the insane tow-ski rider hurls you across the wake and you fly 6 feet in the air) you ram your arse down as far into the ring as you can, which feels kind of funny when it's skipping along the waves. Kind of nice too though.
Costs inc VAT (for EvilKontraktorSkum on jetski business trips) are:
| Thing | Damage |
|---|---|
| Stand-up ski | £100 |
| Sit-down ski | £120 |
| fuel | £30 per ski, approx. |
| Total | £280ish |
| Other stuff | |
| banana/rings | £4 (per hour, IIRC) |
| jacuzzi | £3 for as long as you like |
| wetsuits, lifevests | inclusive |
They don't really care how many people share the jet skis. When we went to a similar thingy before it was £30 for half an hour. I think we should aim to have 6 people per ski and rotate e.g. 20-minute sessions, and we've got great value.
Thusly, there's space for a dozen designated drivers paying £25 each, plus some
kiddies of indeterminate age to take pillion on the sit-down torture on the
inflatables. At a stretch, we could go to 16 people, it would cut costs but
also ski-time, so I'd prefer not to.
